Key Responsibilities:
  • Patrol and Enforcement: Monitor city streets for parking violations, enforce ordinances, and manage vehicle abatement to keep our roads safe and clear.

     
  • Traffic and Event Management: Assist in controlling traffic and pedestrians during emergencies or special events, ensuring public safety at all times.

     
  • Support and Assistance: Provide essential support to sworn officers, including processing evidence, transporting police vehicles, and assisting with non-criminal calls.

     
  • Community Engagement: Respond to public inquiries, give station tours, and conduct presentations at local schools, fostering a positive relationship between the police and the community.

Qualifications We’re Looking For:
  • Effective Communication: You can clearly and effectively communicate, both in writing and verbally, with a wide range of individuals.

     
  • Learning Agility: You have a willingness to learn law enforcement principles, department protocols, and the city’s geography.

     
  • Team Player: You excel at building strong working relationships and thrive in a team-oriented environment.

     
  • Experience and Education: One year of police support experience is preferred. A high school diploma or equivalent is required, and an AA/AS degree in law enforcement, criminal justice, or a related field is a plus.

Health Insurance- You will have access to a comprehensive health insurance plans, which include:

  • Medical insurance via the .  With a City contribution of up to $2,893.54 a month towards plan premium.
  • Employer paid employee dental insurance via Delta Dental (nominal monthly cost for dependents).
  • Vison Insurance via VSP for you and your eligible dependents. 

Retirement- The City of Belmont participates in the .  Employees are enrolled at the PEPRA Memberor Classic Membersubject to CalPERS regulations.

Retirement Health Savings Account - The City makes a monthly contribution to employee's account based on years of service from $150.00 - $300.00 per month.  Vested after ten (10) years of continuous service.

Deferred Compensation- The City makes a monthly contribution of $100.00 per month into employee's In addition, employees can make pre-tax contributions via payroll deduction.  

Paid Time Off: We understand the importance of work-life balance. You will receive accrual of paid time off, including vacation days, sick days, and holidays. 

  • Vacation - Accrual starts at 6.33 hours per month of service, equal to ten (10) per year.
  • Sick Leave - Earned at one day (8 hours) per month of service.
  • Eleven (11) Holidays with two (2) Floating Holidays after a year of service
