Job Description

As an Entry Level Cost Accountant at Westward Seafoods, you will play a crucial role in our finance department. We are looking for a self-motivated individual who is eager to learn and embrace new challenges. Candidates must exhibit a high level of accuracy and unwavering business ethics. The ideal candidate will have a natural aptitude for accounting and will receive on-the-job training to excel in their role.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare and analyze monthly cost reports and associated transactions.
• Create accruals for payroll, raw product costs, sales costs, overhead, and fees.
• Assist in the timely and accurate submission of various reports.
• Ensure the prompt and accurate completion of monthly closing activities.
• Collaborate with our Alaska plants to ensure timely and accurate source documentation preparation.
• Interface with external auditors when necessary.
• Maintain Bills of Materials and cost information in our systems.
• Post journal entries as required.
• Contribute to special projects as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• 0-2 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
• 0-2 years of cost accounting experience.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
• Progress towards or possession of a CMA Certification is a plus.

Skills and Abilities:

• Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Outlook.
• Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Excel for tracking and analysis purposes.
• Strong teamwork and collaboration skills.
• Meticulous attention to detail with a high degree of accuracy.
• Ability to effectively prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
• Exceptional organizational skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
