Job Description

Part-Time, 25 hours per week

Varied hours to include days, evenings, & weekends

Pay rate is based upon related experience

We are looking for someone who has high energy and likes to have fun creating, planning and promoting engaging activities for the independent living residents of our senior living community. JOB SUMMARY

Responsible for planning, assisting and conducting a variety of activity programs to meet physical, social, mental, and spiritual needs of residents. Contributes to overall success of the Lifestyles program. Responsible for following instructions and carrying out assignments properly. Supportive of Village mission, vision, values, and service/hospitality (PRIDE) expectations. Completes training as required by policy.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
  • Identifies, plans, schedules, and hosts a variety of on- and off-campus activities/events (e.g. events throughout entire campus, trips, volunteer opportunities, Lifelong Learning offerings, etc.).
  • Schedules entertainment and speakers for activities.
  • Identify needs and wants of residents in order to plan appropriate events.
  • Stay within budget assigned to each activity.
  • Ensure and maintain a creative, fun and uplifting atmosphere at every activity through creative decorations, lively entertainment and an engaging attitude.
  • Encourages participation in activities through effective promotion.
  • Encourage residents to volunteer to enhance their quality of life.
  • Ensures supplies and equipment are available for each activity.
  • Ensures all necessary forms, agreements, promotion and calendars for each event is completed thoroughly and on time.
  • Adheres to all safety regulations and requirements.
  • Able to handle stress and get along with others within the workplace and with customers outside the department.
  • Maintain acceptable standards of workplace conduct.

The responsibilities described above represent the primary responsibilities of the job. Other responsibilities may be assigned by the supervisor as warranted by business needs. The incumbent is expected to perform all assigned tasks.


ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

  • This position requires the level of education typically acquired by a course of study leading to a high school diploma or GED.

Experience :

  • Experience planning events required.
  • Previous experience working/volunteering with the elderly is preferred.

Knowledge and Skills (required unless otherwise noted):

  • Ability to type with intermediate keyboarding skills.
  • Intermediate level computer skills using Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and Internet Explorer).
  • Strong interpersonal, teamwork, customer service and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple priorities.
  • Strong creativity skills.
  • Able to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions, handbooks, and procedure manuals.
  • Able to write simple sentences, paragraphs, and correspondence.
  • Able to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to residents, family members, and other associates of the organization.
  • Able to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

SPECIAL WORKING CONDITIONS

Work is performed in both indoor and outdoor settings. May be exposed to all types of weather.

Occasional exposure to chemicals used in various activity/craft projects. Expected to work evenings, weekends and holidays, as needed. May be exposed to infectious diseases if working in a licensed area. The associate is required to function around individuals with challenged mental capacities. All associates may be called upon to assist other departments in a declared emergency situation.

  • Walking: Frequently required to move about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly for long distances or moving from one work site to another.
  • Must be able to exchange information and express oneself.

Receives direction from the Lifestyles Manager. May provide direction to volunteers.
