Job Description
About The Job
We are seeking a House Manager to lead the daily operations of a private residence in Falls Church, VA. This is a high-touch, hands-on role requiring sharp interpersonal skills, high standards, and the logistical acumen to manage an evolving household with both tact and discretion.
The House Manager will report directly to the principal's Chief of Staff, and serve as the central point of communication and operations across household staff, vendors, and service providers. She will be equally adept at liaising with high-profile guests, overseeing household renovations/projects, and ensuring that behind-the-scenes details, down to the linen closet, are maintained to the highest standards.
This is a Monday through Friday position with standard hours from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, however the position requires a service-first mindset, and the person in this role should be flexible and responsive outside of these hours. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, is comfortable balancing periods of quiet solo work with high-profile events or guest-facing moments, and can anticipate needs before they're spoken.
The Employer
The principal is a globally engaged executive with a highly dynamic professional and personal life. The residence is actively staffed with a full-time nanny and a part-time housekeeper, with whom this role will collaborate daily. This position has been newly defined, in coordination with the Chief of Staff, to enhance oversight and elevate day-to-day standards across the principal's home/personal life. The environment is respectful, warm, and professional, with high expectations around discretion, efficiency, and composure.
The home operates as a space for casual gatherings during the week, and high-profile entertaining throughout the year. The principal travels often, creating natural rhythms of intensity and quiet.
Communication is primarily via text and calls, with frequent interaction routed through the Chief of Staff. The Chief of Staff anticipates this role will work closely with a future Executive/Administrative Assistant, and needs someone capable of handling administrative tasks until this person is brought on. The House Manager will ideally grow into a broader leadership role supporting other households, once operational excellence is achieved within the principal's residence. This will require a proactive, can-do attitude, and a willingness to flex across people and priorities at the direction of the Chief of Staff.
Compensation & Benefits
-Salary is $120,000+ (commensurate with experience)
-Performance-based bonus eligibility
-Medical, dental, and vision insurance
-15 days paid time off (PTO), paid federal holidays, and generous sick leave & floating holidays
-401(k) participation
-Discretionary travel and special project opportunities as needed
