The Role:

Operations Business Analysts independently lead workstream responsibilities reliably with minimal direction or instruction. Analysts are self-motivated to learn the capabilities of systems, and the processes performed by business partners. Level 2 Business Analysts routinely demonstrate advanced diagnostic troubleshooting capabilities combined with professional collaboration with business partners.

Day to Day:

  • Collaborative working relationship with business partners including IT/S, Operations leadership, Project Management Office (PMO) to ensure deliverable completeness in alignment with user needs and business process requirements.
  • Advanced diagnostics of application/systems and issues troubleshooting.
  • Configure systems, test during release cycles to ensure development and configuration changes are accurate to business needs and provide post-production validation.
  • Knowledgeable and experienced in mobile applications for field work order completion.
  • Provides direct routine support and assistance to end users of information systems; supports users with both process and technical issue resolution.
  • Develops, maintains, and evolves end-user training materials and system configuration documentation.
  • Develop training courses for classroom and informal training communications to educate end users on processes, tools, and applications.
  • Organizes and conducts periodic mobile user group meetings.
  • Maintains an ongoing dialogue with the workstream partners; proactively identify, analyze and research end-user issues surrounding use of NWN’s information systems, and monitors a prioritized list of the outstanding issues to ensure user stories are refreshed.
  • Partner with IT/S technical team members to troubleshoot issues and design solutions.
  • Monitor systems to ensure system performance; take proactive steps to mitigate issues.
  • Elicits requirements through interviews, workshops, surveys, site visits.
  • Document analysis, business process descriptions, user stories, competitive product analysis, to ensure that requirement statements are complete, traceable, feasible, and verifiable.
  • Performs user acceptance testing and production validations for both processes and application functionality; develops test plans and performs and/or coordinates end-user testing of new releases and patches.
  • Serves as change management team member; coordinates and communicates changes as necessary with users.
  • Communicate with workstream leads, technical staff, external user groups, consultants and other departments as needed to ensure priorities are understood.
  • Ensures that end users are using applications effectively/appropriately.
  • Maintains a high level of understanding of user processes; routinely communicates and coordinates with field training personnel, supervisors and managers to identify and integrate process changes and improvements.
  • Supports Company’s commitment to a culture of safe work practices.

  • Bachelor’s degree with a major in business or an equivalent combination of education and field technical experience resulting in general systems skills.
  • Requires a minimum of 3-5 years of experience in Operations, information systems, and/or mobile systems user experience.
  • Advanced communications skills in written, verbal, and presentation capabilities; including the ability to explain technological concepts to a non-technical audience.
  • The ability to interface with end users with credibility, to understand, capture and translate business requirements to user stories.
  • Experience in the use of maintenance table activity to modify data within system applications.
  • Proven ability to organize/prioritize workload effectively and manage conflicting priorities.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills; capable of understanding advanced business processes.
  • Must have the ability to take initiative and be assertive in a professional environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to learn very quickly and adapt to any situation that might arise.
  • Proven ability to function in a highly cohesive team environment to achieve department goals and to act independently to accomplish responsibilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to interact with employees at all organizational levels, including the ability to work in partnership with departmental and process managers in a bargaining unit environment.
  • Requires knowledge of and commitment to maintain application expertise and thorough knowledge of application functionality.
  • Demonstrated ability to train personnel on system use and functionality; develop training programs; create and prepare training materials; provide both entry level and system upgrade training for users.
  • Provide some off-hours support for testing, training, or post release product validation.
  • Requires travel to the various Resource Centers.
  • Possess/maintain a valid Oregon/Washington driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record.

Base salary range: $79,500.00 - $109,100.00 per year, depending on qualifications

Annual Target Incentive: Level 2 , 9.5% target

Targets are calculated using eligible earnings during plan year participation. Payout, if earned, is based on company and individual performance for each plan year and may range from 0% – 200% of target. Targets are subject to change in subsequent plan years. Must be employed by September 30 in order to receive any prorated payout.
