Job Description

Job Title: Phlebotomist IIJob Description Summary: The main function of a phlebotomist is to assist in performing various assigned duties, troubleshooting, training, and making workflow recommendations. Responsibilities + Perform blood draws, label specimens, centrifuge specimens, record maintenance data, and update patient information. + Collect and store specimens according to established procedures. + Properly explain the process of venipuncture, blood drawing, and other specimen collection such as urine or fecal, in a clear and courteous manner. + Demonstrate techniques using straight needles and/or butterfly needles. + Fully understand all physicians' orders. + Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes. + Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test orders. + Check all test requisitions or computer labels against scripts to ensure accuracy. + Package specimens for transport. + Store specimen samples according to required temperatures and place samples in appropriate collection containers or tubes. + Accurately label and follow different procedures outlined by specific protocols necessary for transport to maintain the integrity of the specimen. + Understand and comply with OSHA and DEP regulations. + Attend annual department training sessions. + Answer telephone calls and read laboratory results to satisfy inquiries. Essential Skills + Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state of employment. + Minimum of 6 months' work experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting. + Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite. + High School Diploma or GED. + 2-4 years of experience in phlebotomy. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Candidates with at least 6 months of experience are preferred. Work Environment This position will cover multiple sites including locations in Inland Valley Dr, Lake Elsinore, Murrieta, Temecula, and Fallbrook. Coverage needs can change daily based on call-outs in the area. The working days will be Monday through Friday. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $25.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
