As part of the terms of employment, employees in this role are required to join the union within 31 days of hire and remain a member (e.g. dues paying, fee paying, religious exception contributor) for the duration of the collective bargaining agreement. This position was originally posted to ratified SEIU members from 06/03/2025 to 06/11/2025. The position is now available to be filled by internal candidates that are not members of the ratified Bargaining Unit or External candidates to Sharp. **What You Will Do** Plans and administers assigned respiratory care functions and duties. **Required Qualifications** + Other Graduate of a CoARC accredited respiratory therapy program + Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) - The National Board of Respiratory Care + California Respiratory Care Practitioners (RCP) - Respiratory Care Board of CA + AHA Basic Life Support for Healthcare Professional (AHA BLS Healthcare) - American Heart Association **Preferred Qualifications** + Associate's Degree Related field + One (1) year Respiratory Care experience + ACLS Certification (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - American Heart Association + Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) - National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) + Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) - National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) **Essential Functions** + CommunicationCommunicates patient status, observed change and responses to appropriate member of the healthcare team.Consistently updates IPOC/IPER once per shift.Consults other departments as appropriate to provide for and interdisciplinary approach to the patient's needs.Attends patient care rounds. + DocumentationProficient in computer systems for data entry charges/credits.Maintains patient records as per department guidelines.Enters patient charges/credits as directed with specified time frame.Point of care documentation. + QualityAdheres to aseptic technique and universal precautions.Considers patient safety, age, cultural; psychosocial/physical needs of patients and families when providing care.Provides explanation to patient and family prior to administering care and answers questions.Perform and adheres to department established patient care assessment and / or patient driven protocol.Identifies inappropriate care and follows through with appropriate recommendations.Participates in orientation of new staff / students. + Time managementCompletes delegated duties within timeframes or reports to the appropriate healthcare team member when unable to complete assignment.Accepts additional assignments willingly.Demonstrates ability to adapt to changing work loads with adherence to all department rules and guidelines of care.
