Organization/Team Mission

We are building a Global Crossborder e-commerce platform with a large selection of unique items from individual sellers and businesses from around the world, and expanding to over 100 countries worldwide.

As a frontend engineer at Mercari XB, you will participate in the development from ideation to the release to Mercari's users all over the world. You will own the technical design, implementation, testing and safe rollout of the product.

Work Responsibilities

• Design and implement solutions for both individual users and businesses
• Work extensively with stakeholders external to the team to enhance solutions from the existing product and architecture owned by other teams
• Contribute to the product roadmap and its execution, working closely with product managers, designers, quality assurance and other stakeholders

Unique Challenges

• Our commitment to a culture of openness allows members to discuss architecture on Slack channels organized by business domain, send pull requests to each other on GitHub, and share knowledge in live sessions or on the internal Wiki. We hold weekly study groups for frontend engineers but open to all, encouraging engineers to help one another grow. Members further develop their expertise while demonstrating their abilities at both internal and external engineering community events.
• As a company, we believe all software engineers should use the most appropriate technology available, so we don’t limit people to particular roles or technology. This does not mean that we don’t believe in specialization, but we think that someone’s work should not be limited by their job title.

Qualifications

• Required Experience/Skills

  • Shared belief in Mercari’s mission and values
  • Demonstrated expertise in defining web system technical architecture and hands-on implementation experience of large-scale product codebases
  • Understanding of UI/UX development
  • At least 3 years of experience with one of the following: TypeScript, React.js, Next.js
  • Proficiency in frontend unit-test frameworks, end-to-end tests and UI tests
  • Data-driven approach to development
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate with multiple stakeholders

• Preferred Experience/Skills

  • Project management and/or team leadership experience
  • Experience developing a product used in multiple countries, in multiple languages by millions of users
  • Experience developing and operating with Monorepo architectures
  • Experience with A/B testing and multivariate experiments
  • Backend technical knowledge / hands-on experience
  • Experience in on-call support of services
  • Knowledge of security in web applications
  • Experience with AGILE methodology

Mercari XBのフロントエンドエンジニアとして、アイデアの創出から世界中のメルカリユーザーに向けたリリースに至るまでの開発プロセスに携わり、プロダクトの技術設計、実装、テスト、安全なリリースを担当していただきます。

業務内容

• 個人ユーザーと事業者の両方に向けたソリューションの設計と実装
• チーム外のステークホルダーとの密な連携と、他チームによって管理されている既存のプロダクトやアーキテクチャを改善するためのソリューションの強化
• プロダクトロードマップの策定とその実行に、およびプロダクトマネージャー、デザイナー、QAチーム、その他ステークホルダーとの密接な連携
